Let's wash our hands!

How many times a day do you wash your hands?  You want clean hands but you don't want icky ingredients.  Look at the ingredients on your hand soap.  I have two different brands.  See if you can identify which one is the Foaming Hand Soap from Perfectly Posh.

Hand Soap A:
Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Lauryl sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Decyl Glucoside, Fragrance, DMDM Hydantoin, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Cocamide MEA, Citric Acid, Tetrasodium EDTA, Polyquaternium-7, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Red 33, Blue1

Hand Soap B:
Water, Decyl Glucoside, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Phytate, Polyquaternium-7, Citric Acid, Red 40, Red 33, Blue 1

Let us take a closer look at some of the ingredients.  Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) are inexpensive foaming agents and known skin irritants.  PEG's can be used on healthy skin, but should not be used on damaged skin.  Ethylhexylglycerin is a conditioning agent and preservative.  A couple studies do show it as another skin irritant.  Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice helps dry and damaged skin. It is also an antioxidant.

My son is a habitual hand washer.  He was using soap A.  But he had a rash on the tops of his hands that would not go away.  He finally switched to the Foaming Hand Soap from Perfectly Posh.  The rash cleared up in a few days and has not returned.  This is the main reason why soap A is under the sink and soap B is at every sink in the house.

The Foaming Hand Soap is available in Lei Away, Maha Satori, and Sassyooma.  I love the Sassyooma.
